Recently, I was reading a book by Nina Garcia about the fashion essentials that every woman should have.
Without boring you with the story of my epic and constantly fluctuating minimalist journey, I was awed by the possibility of being able to whittle down my closet to just the essentials. If you know me, then you will know that I love shoes and bags, with an insane preference for the former. But this conversation is more about the bags. I imagined a world where I could literally just have several go to bags that could serve for every occasion. 

I work for a huge part of the week, and my type of work is pretty formal. For the rest of the week, it's either casual events or formal events like weddings and dinners. So, essentially, I figured that with my lifestyle, I really only need three bags. I added an extra one for good measure. It is always a good idea to even things out anyway. 

So here's my list of essential bags:

I think that having neutral shades like browns, blacks or even a statement colour that goes with your wardrobe is ideal.

Here are my picks for my ultimate bag list, if you notice, I lean more towards classic bags that defy the trends.

Number 1: Birkin | Hermes

This bag for me is the ultimate work bag. It's a bag that definitely makes a statement.

Number 2: Neverfull MM | Louis Vuitton

Like the name suggests, this bag can be stuffed with almost anything. Perfect for the woman on the go. I would go for the Damier Ebene Canvas.

Number 3: Classic Flap Bag | Chanel

Just one word. Classic.

Number 4: Speedy 30 | Louis Vuitton

This one can go from work to casual, depending on the size and style.
